Harvel House Farm, acquired by new owners, needed a complete digital and operational transformation. Our involvement ranged from collecting company assets to launching new business ventures. This case study details our approach to guiding the transition of digital assets, setting up new systems, building a new website, and managing their social media presence and new business launches.

The main challenge was the urgent need to transfer all digital assets and set up new systems due to the ownership change. This included removing old employees from various platforms, guiding the previous owners on transferring rights, and purchasing a new domain as the previous owners did not have access to the current one.

Additionally, setting up a Christmas booking system on short notice and designing and building a new website to compete with the companies existing domain added to the complexity.

Initial Transition & Asset Collection

When new owners took over Harvel House Farm, the first step was to guide the collection of company assets. This included:

  1. Google Products: Ensuring transfer and setup of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google My Business.
  2. Social Media Accounts: Removing old employees and transferring administrative rights to the new owners on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. 
  3. Digital Documentation: Guiding the previous owners through the process of transferring rights and providing documentation to ensure a smooth handover.

This step was crucial to establish a solid digital foundation for the new owners to manage and grow their online presence effectively. 

Domain & Website Development

The previous owners did not have access to the current website domain, so we guided the new owners in purchasing a similar domain.

This involved:

  1. Domain Purchase: Advising on the acquisition of a new domain that closely resembled the original.
  2. Website Design and Development: Building the new website on Shopify, sourcing imagery, and writing SEO-optimized content.
  3. SEO Strategy: Developing a strategy to compete with the existing well-known and indexed domain, focusing on local SEO and targeted keywords.

The website development process included creating a user-friendly interface, integrating e-commerce capabilities, and ensuring mobile responsiveness. 

Christmas Booking System Setup

With the new ownership taking over shortly before the holiday season, setting up a Christmas booking system was a priority. The steps included:

  1. Rapid Deployment: Implementing a booking system to allow customers to schedule collection slots for Christmas products.
  2. Customer Communication: Ensuring clear communication with customers regarding the new booking process.
  3. Integration: Integrating the booking system with the new website and social media platforms for seamless user experience.

This last-minute setup helped manage customer flow during a busy season and ensured a positive start for the new owners. 

Social Media Management

Post-launch, our attention turned to enhancing Harvel House Farm’s social media presence. This involved: 

  1. Photography and Graphic Design: Capturing high-quality images of the farm, creating engaging graphics, and scheduling posts.
  2. Content Strategy: Developing a content calendar to ensure regular and consistent posting across platforms.
  3. Engagement: Managing interactions with followers, responding to comments and messages, and building an online community.

Effective social media management helped increase brand awareness and drive traffic to the new website. 

New Business Ventures Launch

Harvel House Farm launched several new ventures, including Harvel House Café, an ice cream parlour, and a sweet shop. Our role included:

  1. Photography and Graphics: Photographing the premises, editing images, and creating promotional graphics for each new venture.
  2. Product Launch Promotions: Developing and scheduling promotional campaigns to create buzz around the new launches.
  3. Internal Systems Configuration: Helping configure internal systems for till operations and purchase management.
